NJN Ltd is notified body NB 1888, authorised to carry out conformity assessment of construction products under Regulation (EU) No 305/2011 (CPR) and the national requirements of the NRRCPCSB. The CE marking we issue is valid throughout the European Union.

Applicable regulations and ordinances

We assess construction products along two main regulatory routes — the European regulation for CE marking and the national requirements for the construction market in Bulgaria.

CPR

Regulation (EU) No 305/2011 — CE marking of construction products

The Construction Products Regulation (CPR) governs the placing on the market and making available of construction products on the EU market. Manufacturers are required to draw up a Declaration of Performance (DoP) and to affix the CE marking to the product where a harmonised European standard (hEN) exists. As notified body NB 1888, NJN Ltd takes part in the systems for assessment and verification of constancy of performance (AVCP) at levels 1, 1+, 2, 2+, 3 and 4. The scope of assessment includes testing, inspections of production control and certification.

NRRCPCSB — National requirements for construction products

The Ordinance on the conditions and procedure for incorporating construction products into works in the Republic of Bulgaria (NRRCPCSB) governs the assessment of construction products for which no harmonised European standard exists. Under the ordinance, NJN Ltd carries out certification of products against national technical specifications (BDS standards, technical approvals) and issues a national certificate of conformity. The certificate is mandatory for incorporating the product into construction sites within Bulgaria and is recognised by the DNSC and the construction supervision authorities.

Scope

Construction products within the scope of assessment

NJN Ltd assesses a wide range of construction products used in the construction of buildings, roads and hydraulic engineering structures.

Concrete

Concrete and concrete products

We assess concrete to EN 206 and the harmonised standards of the EN 13369 series for precast concrete products. The scope includes structural concrete, hydraulic concrete, concrete for road pavements and special types of concrete. We carry out inspections of production control at the plant and take samples for testing. The tests cover compressive strength, water impermeability, freeze/thaw resistance, chloride content and other characteristics in accordance with the technical specification.

Aggregates

We assess aggregates for concrete to EN 12620 and for bituminous mixtures and road pavements to EN 13043. The scope includes crushed stone, gravel, sand and recycled aggregates. The tests cover particle size distribution, particle shape, strength, freeze resistance, fines content, chlorides and sulphates. We carry out type testing and inspections of production control at quarries and crushing plants.

Asphalt

Asphalt concrete

We assess asphalt mixtures to EN 13108 (the series of standards for bituminous mixtures). The scope includes asphalt concrete for road pavements, porous asphalt, asphalt for very heavy traffic and special mixtures. Type testing covers mechanical properties, resistance to permanent deformation (wheel tracking), fatigue resistance and water sensitivity. We carry out supervision of the production process at asphalt plants.

Metal

Steel structures

We assess steel structures and components to EN 1090 (Execution of steel structures). The scope includes load-bearing steel elements for buildings and engineering structures, welded beams, columns and trusses, bolted connections and anchorages. The tests cover the mechanical properties of the material, weld quality, geometric accuracy and corrosion protection. We carry out audits of the factory production control (FPC) to EN 1090-1.

Registration in NANDO

NJN Ltd is listed as a notified body in the European NANDO database (New Approach Notified and Designated Organisations), maintained by the European Commission.

NB 1888

Identification number

The number NB 1888 is the unique identifier of NJN Ltd in the European NANDO database. Every CE marking we issue contains this number, allowing any market participant to verify the authenticity of the assessment directly in the European Commission's database.

European recognition

The certificates we issue as a notified body are recognised automatically in all 27 Member States of the European Union, with no need for additional verification or recertification. The CE marking is valid evidence of compliance with European requirements when placing the product on any market in the EU.

МРРБ

Notification by the MRDPW

NJN Ltd is notified by the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works (MRDPW) as a competent body for the assessment of construction products. The MRDPW is the national notifying authority responsible for informing the European Commission of the notified bodies from Bulgaria.
